What is Imperial Seasoning?

Cooking has been a very near and dear pastime in my family for generations.  My father grew up on a farm in Switzerland and later went to culinary school.  He immigrated to the United States eventually settling in Louisiana and opening his own restaurant.  In the mid-1980s he decided to open a seasoning company and developed a variety of spice blends as well as packaged mixes.  I trained under him both as a cook in commercial kitchens and as a spice blender.

Growing up in a restaurant family often saw us all working at some position in the restaurant, and life could be tumultuous.  We did not always get along, but we regularly sat down together to share a meal.  Family does not mean bloodlines.  Whether your family is related or formed through shared experience, sitting down to a meal together creates and strengthens bonds.  That meal might be a simple weekend gathering, a meal for a celebration, or even a meal during times of mourning.  Some of the best memories I have are sharing great food with the people in my life who mean the most.

Life is not about the food you eat. It is about the people you share it with.

My father’s ambition was to provide exceptional food and experiences to his guests. Today I bring my experience to the table with the ambition to carry on my father’s legacy.  May these seasonings flavor the foods that bring people together.

What’s with the Name?

In addition to cuisine, dad loved cars.  One of his favorite cars that he owned was a 1959 Chrysler Imperial.  It is a car that catches people’s attention when it passes, and speaks of craftsmanship, and attention to quality.  It espouses a driving experience that is leisurely and enjoyable and creates a feeling of the open road; that wherever you want to go, this car can get you there and get you there in style.  People say life is just as much about the journey as the destination, and when riding in that car, I would say that I agree.  I inherited this car from my father and decided to name my company after it as tribute to him and because, just like the car, I believe these seasonings are among the best in quality and style and that wherever you want to take your food, these flavors can help you get there.
